Space Invaders FAQ
Common questions about controls, diagonal shots, wave mechanics, and scoring.
How do you play Space Invaders?
Move your ship left/right and press Space to fire. Shoot all the aliens before any of them reach your position. Each cleared wave starts a new, faster wave.
How do you fire in Space Invaders?
Press Space on desktop, or tap the canvas on mobile. There is a cooldown between shots — one bullet on screen at a time. Cooldown decreases as your level increases.
What are diagonal shots?
If you fire while moving, the bullet inherits your horizontal speed and travels diagonally. This lets you hit aliens that are not directly above you.
How does leveling up work?
Clear all aliens in a wave to advance one level. Each new wave has more aliens, faster alien descent speed, and a shorter bullet cooldown — making every wave harder.
How is the score calculated?
Each alien kill is worth level × 10 points. Clearing a full wave adds a bonus of 150 × level. Higher levels yield significantly more points per kill and per wave.
What ends the game?
Any alien reaching your ship's Y position triggers Game Over. You do not need to be directly hit — if the alien grid descends far enough, the game ends.
Is there a high score?
Yes — the leaderboard is coming very soon, to save your best scores. It is accessible from the toolbar throughout every game session.
How do I move on mobile?
Drag left or right on the canvas to move the ship. Tap to fire. Tap on the start or game-over screen to begin or restart.
