The Dino runner — always online, no internet outage needed.

Learn the jump and duck timings, obstacle patterns, and survival tips to keep your run going.

What is the Dino runner game?

An infinite side-scrolling runner inspired by Chrome's offline dinosaur game. Your dino runs automatically; you control only jumps and ducks. The game runs at any time — no internet outage required. Obstacles appear at random, and the game gets faster the longer you survive.

Step-by-step: Starting your first run

  1. Open /dino and press Space or tap the screen to start your run
  2. When you see a cactus ahead, press Space, Up Arrow, or tap to jump
  3. When you see a mid-height bird, press and hold Down Arrow or swipe down to duck
  4. Land cleanly and continue running — the game speeds up over time
  5. Survive as long as possible to set a new personal best

Bird (mid)Aerial — mid heightDuck (Down / swipe down)

Jump mechanics explained

Pressing Space, Up Arrow, or tapping applies upward velocity to the dino. Gravity pulls it back down at a constant rate. You cannot double-jump — a second press while airborne does nothing. Wait until the dino lands before jumping again.

Duck mechanics explained

Pressing and holding Down Arrow (or swiping down on mobile) switches to the ducking stance, lowering the hitbox. You must hold the key — releasing returns the dino to full height. Ducking mid-air is not possible; commit to either a jump or a duck based on the obstacle ahead.

How speed scaling works

The game's internal speed value increases continuously the longer you survive. Obstacles move faster, leaving you less time to react. The parallax background layers also scroll faster as speed increases — watch the background to gauge how fast the game currently is.

Survival tips

  1. React early — commit to a jump or duck as soon as the obstacle enters your field of view.
  2. Read bird height before jumping; jumping into a high bird is a common mistake.
  3. Do not hold the duck key longer than needed — standing up sooner gives you more time to react to the next obstacle.
  4. Stay calm at high speed; panic-jumping when no obstacle is present wastes air time.
  5. Use the parallax background scroll speed as a difficulty indicator — faster background means less reaction time ahead.
